To have a civil wedding in Zielona Góra, you must first schedule an appointment at the Civil Registry Office. Booking is one of the first and most important steps in organizing the ceremony.

Before the ceremony, you will submit a declaration of no impediment to marriage. From that moment, a statutory waiting period of at least 1 month applies. This is the time during which the office verifies information and prepares documentation.

If you are a Polish citizen, prepare a valid ID card or passport. The Civil Registry Office in Zielona Góra obtains copies of birth certificates directly from the registry, so you do not need to provide them yourself. The situation is more complicated when one of the parties is a foreigner. In such a case, the following are required: identity document, copy of birth certificate, certificate of legal capacity to marry (or court order if obtaining a certificate is impossible), and certified translations of foreign-language documents.

You must invite 2 adult witnesses to the ceremony. They can be persons of any nationality. Their presence is a condition for the validity of a civil wedding.

The fee for drawing up the marriage certificate is 84 zloty. If you decide on an outdoor wedding or a ceremony outside the office, an additional fee of 1000 zloty is added. The office will require assurance of safety and dignified conditions for the ceremony to take place.

After the ceremony, you will receive a marriage certificate. The first short copy is issued free of charge. Additional copies can be obtained for a fee.
