A civil wedding in Szczerców begins with filing a declaration of no impediments to marriage. Both Polish citizens and foreigners can enter into marriage at the Civil Registry Office in Szczerców, provided they meet legal requirements.

Polish citizens should prepare a valid identity card or passport. The office obtains copies of birth certificates directly from the civil registry, so there is no need to submit them independently. Foreigners, on the other hand, must present an identity document, a copy of a birth certificate, a certificate of legal capacity to marry issued by the appropriate authorities of their country of origin, and sworn translations of all foreign language documents.

After submitting documents, a statutory waiting period of at least 1 month applies. During this time, office staff verify the completeness of files and prepare for the ceremony. The tax fee for drawing up a marriage certificate is 84 zloty.

After the wedding ceremony, the couple receives a marriage certificate. The first short copy is issued free of charge, additional copies require a fee.
