The procedure for entering into a civil marriage in Szczecinek begins with submitting a declaration of no impediments to marriage at the Civil Registry Office. After submitting the documents, you must wait a minimum of 1 month before the ceremony can be conducted. This is a statutory waiting period that applies regardless of circumstances.

As a Polish citizen, you need a valid identity card or passport. Copies of birth certificates usually do not need to be provided by you personally, as the Civil Registry Office obtains them directly from the civil status register. The situation is different if one of the parties is a foreigner.

A foreigner must present:

• identity document
• copy of birth certificate
• certificate of legal capacity to enter into marriage issued by the appropriate authorities of the country of origin (or a court order when obtaining the certificate is impossible)

After the ceremony, the marriage certificate is drawn up immediately. You receive the first short copy of the certificate free of charge. Remaining copies are issued under general terms.
