A civil wedding in Świnoujście begins with filing a declaration of no impediments to marriage at the Civil Registry Office. After filing this statement, a statutory waiting period of at least 1 month applies. Only after this period has elapsed is it possible to conclude a marriage.

Each of the prospective spouses must possess a valid identity document. For Polish citizens, an identity card or passport is sufficient. The Civil Registry Office in Świnoujście obtains copies of birth certificates directly from the civil registry, so there is no need to provide them independently.

The marriage ceremony requires the presence of two adult witnesses. They can be persons of any nationality, the only requirement is reaching the age of majority.

The court fee for drawing up a marriage certificate is 84 zloty. The first copy of the certificate is issued free of charge immediately after the ceremony.
