Wedding slots in Sopot

The procedure for entering into a civil marriage in Sopot begins with submitting a declaration of absence of obstacles to marriage at the Civil Registry Office. After submitting the documents, a statutory waiting period of minimum one month applies, giving couples time for final consideration of their decision.

Each party must present a valid identity document, i.e. a personal ID or passport. Polish citizens usually do not need to provide copies of birth certificates, as the Civil Registry Office in Sopot obtains them directly from the civil registry. The situation of foreigners is more complicated and requires additional documents.

After the waiting period expires, the couple can have a civil wedding. The ceremony requires the presence of two adult witnesses, who may be both Polish citizens and foreigners. The court fee for preparing a marriage certificate is 84 zloty.

Sopot offers the possibility of entering into marriage outside the office premises, at a location chosen by the couple. An outdoor wedding involves an additional fee of 1000 zloty and requires ensuring safety and appropriate conditions for the ceremony. The marriage certificate is issued directly after the ceremony, and the first short copy is free of charge.

Foreigners intending to enter into marriage in Sopot must prepare an identity document, a copy of the birth certificate, a certificate of legal capacity to enter into marriage (or a court order when obtaining it is impossible) and certified translations of all foreign-language documents.
