A civil marriage in Police begins with submitting a declaration of no impediments to marriage. The engaged couple must personally appear at the Civil Registry Office in Police and present the required documents. For Polish citizens, a valid identity card or passport is sufficient. The office independently obtains copies of birth certificates from the civil registry, so the engaged couple does not need to provide them.

After submitting the declaration, a statutory waiting period begins, which lasts a minimum of 1 month. During this time, the office checks for any impediments to marriage. The ceremony date can be set for any day after this period expires.

The stamp duty for drawing up a marriage certificate is 84 zloty. This amount is paid before the ceremony.

During a civil marriage in Police, the presence of two adult witnesses is required. These can be people of any nationality, but they must be of age and should be capable of making a statement of intent.

The engaged couple can choose to have the marriage at the Civil Registry Office in Police or an outdoor ceremony at a location of their choice. A marriage outside the office premises involves an additional fee of 1000 zloty and requires ensuring safety and dignified conditions for the ceremony.
