A civil wedding in Opole begins with submitting a declaration of no impediments to marriage at the Civil Status Office. After delivering the required identity documents, both parties must wait a minimum of 1 month before being able to enter into marriage. This period is stipulated by law and cannot be shortened.

Each party must possess a valid identity card or passport. Polish citizens usually do not have to provide copies of birth certificates, as the Civil Status Office obtains them directly from the civil status register. The situation is different for foreigners, who in addition to an identity document must submit a copy of their birth certificate and a certificate of legal capacity to marry issued by the appropriate authorities of their country of origin. Documents in a foreign language require certified translations.

The court fee for drawing up a marriage certificate is 84 zł. The first short copy of the certificate is issued free of charge immediately after the ceremony.

Two adult witnesses are required to enter into marriage. They can be persons of any nationality.

The ceremony in Opole can take place either at the office headquarters or at a location outside the building chosen by the couple. An outdoor wedding involves an additional fee of 1000 zł and the requirement to ensure safe and dignified conditions for the ceremony.
