A civil wedding in Marki begins with the submission of a declaration of no impediments to marriage to the Civil Registry Office. The couple should reserve the date of the ceremony, keeping in mind the statutory waiting period of a minimum of 1 month from the date of submission of documents.

Each party must have a valid identity document, i.e. a national ID card or passport. Polish citizens usually do not need to provide copies of birth certificates, as the Civil Registry Office in Marki obtains them directly from the register. The fee for preparing a marriage certificate is 84 zł.

Two adult witnesses must be invited to the ceremony. They can be Polish citizens or foreigners - there are no restrictions on their origin.

If one of the partners is a foreigner, additional documents are required:

• valid identity document of the foreigner,
• copy of birth certificate,
• certificate of legal capacity to enter into marriage issued by the appropriate authorities of the country of origin,
• sworn translations of foreign-language documents.

A civil wedding in Marki can also take place outside the office premises, in a location chosen by the couple. This option involves an additional fee of 1000 zł and the obligation to ensure safety and dignified conditions for the ceremony.

After the marriage is concluded, the civil officer issues a marriage certificate. The first copy of the abbreviated document is free of charge.
