A civil marriage in Koło begins with booking a date at the Civil Registry Office. The couple should submit a declaration of no impediments to marriage, which is the starting point for the administrative process. From the date of submission of this document, a statutory waiting period of a minimum of 1 month applies.

Each of the engaged persons must provide a valid identity document (ID card or passport). Polish citizens usually do not need to submit copies of birth certificates, as the Koło Civil Registry Office retrieves them directly from the civil registry. The situation is different for foreigners, who are required to provide a copy of their birth certificate, identity document, a certificate of legal capacity to marry (or a court order if obtaining this certificate is impossible), and certified translations of all foreign language documents.

The treasury fee for drawing up a marriage certificate is 84 zł. The ceremony requires the presence of two adult witnesses, who may be Polish citizens or foreigners. After the marriage is concluded, the certificate is issued officially, and the first short copy is free of charge.

The possibility of holding a marriage outside the Civil Registry Office (outdoor wedding) exists, but involves an additional fee of 1000 zł. The office then requires ensuring safety and dignified conditions for the ceremony.
