The procedure for concluding a marriage at the Civil Registry Office in Dąbrowa Białostocka begins with scheduling an appointment. The couple should report in person or send an authorized representative to set the ceremony date and become familiar with the requirements.

Polish citizens must provide a valid identity card or passport. Birth certificate copies are automatically retrieved by the Civil Registry Office from the civil registry, so there is no need to provide them. The exception is for people who have changed their surname or who were born abroad.

Foreigners must prepare additional documents: an identity document, a birth certificate copy, a certificate of legal capacity to enter into marriage issued by the competent authorities of their country of origin, and sworn translations of all documents into Polish.

The tax fee for preparing a marriage certificate is 84 zł. If the couple wants to have a wedding outside the office, in an open-air setting or another chosen location, an additional fee of 1000 zł applies. The office ensures that the ceremony will take place in dignified and safe conditions.

The statutory waiting period is a minimum of 1 month from the day of submitting the declaration of no impediments to conclude a marriage. During this period, either party may withdraw the declaration.

The ceremony must be attended by 2 adult witnesses. These can be persons of any nationality. After the marriage is concluded, the couple receives a marriage certificate, and the first short copy is issued free of charge.
